I think that you have to be nice and gain everyone's trust before you can truly become popular.

I think confidence makes a person popular because everyone loves people who believe in themselves and are positive about it, and who never bring themselves (or anybody else) down.

I think you should be able to cope in lots of different situations...you should be quite open-minded too...

Yeah, confidence would be a big factor...

Nowadays, girls are popular if they are 'easy' and have big chests and low tops/short skirts. And that just sucks.

At my school, girls who wear short skirts, and dress like tarts are considered s.luts...

The popular ones are usually pretty...small in general, I mean not-overweight...and um, usually in the sports teams...

Girls around here(where I am and in the US) are popular because they are nice to your face and pretty. Most of the popular girls say nice things to your face and then they go around behind your back blabbing. They are usualy skiny and have mediun sized boobs. They are usually OVER confident, if you know what I mean.

At my school, the girls who go out with the most boys and get the closest to y'know......se.x and who have thier skirts up the shortest, get in most trouble and bully the other girls who aren't in thier group are the most popular.

^^ Yeah that's also how it is at my school. Sometime when a girl gets lightly hit on the arm by a guy she'll scream "Stop it!" in some whiny voice.

Nothing, nothing at all, No one should be popular. When we say popular people have to be nice, what about people who aren't nice? Its not their fault. NO one should ever be popular, we should just be ourselfs!

This girl at my school is considered popular just because all the guys think she's 'hot'. she is so not, because she talks about you behind her back and makes fun of you to your face. she is mean and snotty. but, apparently ALL the guys have crushes on her. it makes me so MAD. I MEAN WHY DID THEY JUST CHOOSE HER? why not another girl who is nice, pretty, confident and a leader?

I'm not sure, but, scarily enough, I was reading an advice Q & A online and, at the end, they included information on a booklet they sell entitled "How to be popular!" I had no idea that something like this would actually still be out there.

in indonesia people are popular because :
1. they are down to earth
2. they are cheerleaders
3. they got beautiful face and good posture
or...
4. they made scandals about themselves.

Traits of popular girls at my school:
1) are a cheerleader or some are on the volleyball team or basketball team
2)skinny
3)wear Hollister, American Eagle, Amercrombie & Finch, etc.
4) have a real (or a very good copy) designer purse
5) have strait hair(flat ironed)
6) usually girls with brown hair have blond highlights (personally, I think it looks stupid)
7) nice to your face, rude behind your back
8) somewhat stupid

I sort of have 4 and kind of 7.

at my school it is:

I don't know what makes people popular. I'm ignored everywhere I go, and I have board straight reddish dark blonde hair with natural blonde highlights. I'm not rich, I'm more of middle-class. But I'm still ignored by pretty much everyone, even though I'm not mean. Popular girls dismiss me the moment they see me, whether I'm wearing make-up, or wearing clothes like theirs. Maybe their eyes are so sharp they can read my mind and know that I'm a geek and read two books thicker or as thick as Twilight everyday. I don't even have GLASSES, and people THINK that makes a girl a geek. My sister has reading glasses, and even when she was engaged guys were around her like busy bees!

I think it's the fact that you have confidence and that you're opened with people. I hardly think it has much to do with what you wear and stuff. Well, it does kinda, because once you're popular you have to maintain a certain image. But I think just being...out there with people. Or at least that's how it is in my school. Kind of annoying really. Because they get the privilege to make fun of anyone they want. So...whatever.

When I see popular people it's either they're confident, funny, outspoken/loud, friendly &/or sociable so a lot of people know them, [actors/actresses] - or - they're those bad girls that you all talk about and they're only known for their evil character.

and sometimes people are just popular.
most of the time you have to live with it, but in special circumstances everything goes right.
the only reason im popular is because when 1 of the "popular" girls got kicked out, i made her happy again.
and then the other popular girls were like leeches.
they were nice 2 me after that and now im vice-captain!

we used to have a girl in our skool called sarah.
she was always teased and had no friends.
then one day things got so bad with one really mean girl called krystal she left and never came back.
she now goes to a different skool and she has 1 friend there.
but sometimes i wish i had of stood up for that girl instead of watching her be humiliated everyday.
for all those girls who were just like sarah, do something about it.
stand up for yourself, buy new clothes, because fitting in is important when it comes to mean little girls!

well to me theres 2 kinds of popular:
1) the pretty girls, all slim, straight hair (generally), cool clothes, say nice things to you-mean behind your back, mostly dumb. These girls are popular because they're feared. (which is stupid, why are they feared)

2) people that are genuinely liked for being kind to their friends and not their friends.

What makes a popular person and what should make a popular person are very different. Generally, and I am not saying that every popular person is like this, popular poeple are mean to regular poeple and really pretty. And what should make a popular person is someone who is nice and kind, to everyone, no matter how stupid or ugly they are.

My brother was like B list popular when he was in school. He was nominated for Homecoming and Prom court, which he never won. Here is how he was(this is what I call good popularity):
1) on the football team
2) was sport reporter
3) student council member
4) was in many clubs
5) nice to almost everyone
6) had a good sence of humor
7)sarcastic
Even though he was kind of dorky, he liked Star Wars, LOTC, Scooby-Doo, X-Men, Spider-Man, etc., and was only fairly attrative, yet he still was popular.

Honestly, it kind of depends who is in your school. I'm A LOT like my brother, but I'm not popular. Mainly with the people I go to school with, you have to be skinny and tan, which I'm not. The people at my school have their own standard of beauty, which I'm not in. Most people in my family(aunts, uncles included) think I'm pretty. Sure, I'm a little plump, but I have clear, pale skin, curly dark blonde hair, green eyes, dark black eyelashes, glasses, and have great legs. I'm also pretty dorky pop culture junkie, theatre lover, that loves magic stuff, and oldies music. Go figure.

Brazil:
the most popular girl from my school tells everyone she's b.i.. and keeps hugging boys and girls all the time shes short,blonde,pale skin,pretty, has a big ass and is dumb. she has bad grades and wants to be the center of everything all the time and admits that and she says she addmits she's fake and talks bad stuff about people when they're not around. and she likes to fight with girls verbaly. She says I love you to everyone (to me) and she once called my best friend gorgeous then she told me : "Your best friend is so ugly. How can you possibly be friends with her? Your so pretty!" I was thinking: "Yeah right" Who knows if she actually thinks I'm ugly?

One of the popular gal' from my class, Mary. And the reason that make her popular is:
She's pretty, so many guys in our school crush on her.

Juz becoz of that! She think she's above us, people with non-popular status. And... She's rude too.
She don't care about other's feeling when she are talking something. Like.... How come you two( me and my bff) always stick together, are you girls lesbian?
Really rude, right?

Some of them say if she let down her hair( She always tie her hair into ponytail), she looks really beautiful.
But i don't think so............... All she need is a brand-new product for her wayward hair.

I think for a person to be popular they have to be confident,positive,and a good role model to younger people. I also think that the person has to be open to everyone and not just be with one person(friend wise)

Yeah, that's how that is at my school. Also the people you don't want to fight with, are the popular ones, because they have 'back-up' which is basically and older brother/sister or cousins and their friends. =S Yikes. Loool.

What makes someone considered popular?
Usually, beauty.
Think about it, most people who get a lot of attention from their peers (usually the opposite sex) are good-looking.
And when people a group of good-looking people are likeable enough, BAM! That group is considered 'Popular'.
But this doesn't mean everyone who is popular is nice...
There are other types of 'Popular' who only get attention because of rumors going around about them or they just are always the topic of conversation.
In my school, I really don't notice any of the popular people being treated differently. Maybe by the people who like them... but I see them just the same as everyone else. I guess I'm lucky to be in a school where no one really cares what you did at a party last weekend or who you're going out with. I think this is why I didn't like this book very much... i couldn't understand why popularity means so much to -er..Well, I forget her name but the main character. I thought it was pretty silly. Oh, well. She got over it.
