Heather's Wedding Gown Contest!

Heather Wells is getting married in Book 5, Size 12 is the New Black (due out in September 2013)! But she needs help choosing a wedding dress (as you know, Heather and her mom don't get along, so Mrs. Wells is no use helping her daughter pick out a dress). Heather needs all the advice she can get!
What kind of dress do you think Heather would look good in? Post your ideas (pictures of dresses from the Internet, or even designs of your own) on this page, and Heather (or Meg Cabot) will take a look at them. If Heather chooses one of your dresses or designs, you will win a free copy of Size 12 is the New Black!
Here is what Heather told Meg about what she wants:
"I'm a full figured size 12 and nearly 30 years old, so I'm not going to go for anything with a huge hoop skirt or I will look like I'm trying to be Scarlett O'Hara, but other than that, anything goes!"
Good luck!
(And when you're done dressing Heather, you can dress her bridesmaids!)

Both of these dress would flow on the bottom...perfect for a size 12 girl :)
I also like the sleeves...they will hide any flab!

I like the dress, that would suit her more than the one with the shorter hem line.

At my senior prom my friend Rosemary (who's the same body type as Heather) wore this gorgeous navy blue strapless gown with ruching in the middle. She outshone all of us other girls (and one of us even wore a wedding dress). So that's what I picture Heather in; maybe not strapless, but something that hugs and accentuates. Cooper would definitely love it.
Here's a suggestion from Kleinfeld's site (you might have to create a profile and phony wedding date like I did, though):

There's also this gorgeous one from Carolina Herrera: http://www.carolinah...ection/5/detail
And this similar one from Vera Wang: http://www.verawang....2012/130-hilary

I can't actually show you the photo I'd like to, because the website doesn't allow me to insert an image, only a URL for one. Here's one which shows that wedding dresses don't need to be just white/cream/ivory....

That dress is super pretty, however, and I know you have probably nothing to do with that post from the website, but that post's wording was highly offensive, I feel like! PLUS that bride was NOT "fat", overweight, obese, she had a gorgeous body!
I know you probably didn't, just seriously was offended by that person, who wrote it, wording!
Great dress though! :)

My Hand Drawn Design I posted it on Pinterest because I couldn't figure out a way to upload an image from my laptop onto here.
It is loosely based on what I hope for my wedding dress to looking like in the future when I get married one day. One of the many awesome things about Heather is that she's got a normal body type, which isn't something you see or read about very often in a character! :)
Love this contest, and had a lot of fun with it! Thanks Meg and Ann! :)

starberry, I love your idea of Lizzie from Queen of Babble working on a dress for Heather. I wonder if Meg would ever do a cross over like that.

Strapless is an even bigger nono she'll be stuck yanking the dress into place all day, could you imagine???? Cap sleeves maybe? they're very flattering and age-appropriate, heart shape neckline giving it more of a retro feel? And very flattering!

I see her in something more breezey, simple, and fun, with a lacy top: My link
But if she did go for a long gown, I still think she'd keep to having a cute lacy top/sleeves: My link

I like the second dress, and can picture Heather in it, but I'm curious as to why you say she's insecure, as that isn't the impression I get of her. Rather, I see her as someone who's very comfortable with the way she looks even if other people don't like it. I might be mistaken, though, so if you could help me understand what you wrote, I'd be very grateful. Maybe I'll have to review my perception of her.

I guess I just never read her as someone super confident in her appearance (like in the third book where she talks about wanting her then boyfriend to take off his glasses so he couldn't see her, etc.) Though I do feel Cooper has helped her become more self confident. I also could just be projecting my own insecurities. I think Heather is a beautiful strong heroine, I just don't see her as someone who would go strapless on her wedding day (again, I personally would never go strapless ever, so I could just be projecting).

You're right. I guess I always focused more on how she always insists that she's just "big boned" and not fat, that I overlooked how she acted around Tad. But I think that after she and Cooper got together she became much more comfident, comsidering she spends hardly any time talking about her size on the fourth book. I agree wholeheartedly with you about the strapless thing, though, it is so not her.

I think a cream colour with gold would look good and a empire waist styled dress with a sweetheart neckline.
Love this dress
