Middle School (nowadays) is 6th-8th grade. For some, it might be 6th-9th, though. That was how it was for my mom when she was in school. My middle school is 6th-8th. Then my high school is 9th-12th. Most students turn 12 in 6th grade, 13 in 7th grade, 14 in 8th grade, and so on. But it differs from person to person depending on when their birthday is. A lot of public school start in either late ugust, or early September and get out some time in June.

Middle school for me was grade 7-8 and I was 13 in grade 7 and 14 in grade 8.
In Canada we don't really do the whole American high school freshman ect thing because you know, we're cool like that. (but of course thanks to the movies we know what that stuff is) We just uh stick with grades ie 9, 10, 11, 12.
So yeah. XD

Well I started freshman year as fourteen, and i'm going to end it fourteen because my birthday's in the summer. But most people start middle school in sixth grade when they're 11, and they turn 12 over the course of the year. it keeps going on until Senior year which is starting out 17 and turning 18 (or staying seventeen until next year like moi, well, for moi it's actually fourteen, but in three years it will be seventeen...)

Then you go off to college which is called University in other countries.
It's really not that difficult. If you would like to learn more on the system just go to: http://en.wikipedia....s#School_grades
As I said the system isn't that difficult. It's different to other places just like other countries schooling system would be quite different to us.

For the fun of it, here´s how it is in Germany:
Kindergarten:
3 - 6 year olds
"Grundschule" (Elementary School):
grades one to four
6/7 - 9/10 year olds
("High School" is split into three kinds depending on how clever you are :D)
Hauptschule: grades 5-9 , 10/11 - 14/15 years
Realschule: grades 5-10 , 10/11 - 15/16 years
Gymnasium: grades 5-12 , 10/11 - 18/19 years
You can go on to Gymnasium when you´ve finished Realschule.
When you´ve finished Gymnasium you get your Abitur, which qualifies (sp?) you to go on to University. If you don´t get your Abitur, you can learn other jobs that don´t require that you´ve been to University.
Woah, it´s quite complicated.
Love,
Kati

I know that when I go to university here, it's at least four years. If you want to specialize, it's more than four.
I was really confused when I started reading books that used "freshmen", "sophomore", "junior", and "senior". My school is a combined junior and senior. The junior side is grades seven to nine, and the senior is ten to twelve (or level one to three).
It never made much sense to me until I learned that whole freshmen, sophomore, etc. process why senior high schools had grade nines when, in my school, they're considered junior high.
