Has anyone here read Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein? I ordered the book recently and can't wait to start it. I've heard great things about the book.

I did read it earlier in the year.
I wasn't head over heels with it because I found it to be too wordy and the first half was rather confusing so it was hard for me to read a lot of it at once.

But almost everyone else I know LOVED IT.

I usually don't mind spoilers and actually seek them out, which is what I did for this book. I wish I hadn't. Now I won't be surprised by how the story ends.

Code Name Verity is a good book and incredibly powerful - I am meeting the author on Thursday. It was rather slow, but despite this very well written. It is one of those books where you read on because you want to know the end.

So cool that you'll be meeting Elizabeth Wein on Thursday.  Will this be in the UK or the US?

I can't wait to read her new book Rose Under Fire.  It comes out in the US in September.

I met Elizabeth Wein yesterday, she talked mainly about planes and the Second World War, which if you like me find those sort of things interesting, was well - interesting. Her favourite character was Anna Engel, she said this is because she had the hardest job, I suppose I agree. She also spoke about the many female pilots, who helped in the war or otherwise and how she learnt to fly in case her husband crashed the plane. She told us about how as a child she was always fascinated by the war, this fascination beginning with a comic and how she drew her first story at the age of twelve, we were shown images of her drawing as she told us how she incorporated them into Code Name Verity.   She also showed us all the different covers sold around the world, I was one of the few whom prefered the American hardback cover with the bound hands.

I now have a signed copy of Rose Under Fire I cannot wait to read.

It was a brilliant day, I also met Lydia Syson, who spoke about her novel " A World Between Us".

Have you started Rose Under Fire yet?  I hope it has a happy ending.

No, I have so many books I want to read and so little free time, its frustrating. I really want to start Rose Under Fire though.
