SARAH DESSEN

Posted Image

I love Sarah Dessen books. :) I think her writing is different than a lot of YA writers out there and, in my opinion, more relatable as well.

What do you guys think about her books? Discuss! :)

I'm ashamed to say that I own all of Sarah's books, but have yet to read one. Well, that's not technically true. I started Along for the Ride two summers ago and got pretty far in the book, but got distracted and never finished it. I enjoyed what I read, though, and hope to read and finish her books in the near future. People have such wonderful things to say about her books. I love following her on Twitter.

Her books are great but i got bored with them. (Teen romances can be boring sometimes) I read Dreamland, The Truth About Forever, and This Lullaby. Sarah Dessen is great, i recommend her books to anyone who likes romance.

I loved that one! :D The guy was awesome. What's-his-face, lol. I don't remember his name. I loved the basketball aspect because it reminded me of life around where I live. I'm pretty sure Sarah Dessen is from my state, so it makes since, haha.

Haha. :) she's awesome. Just Listen was one of the easiest to get into and hooked to if you're looking for one to start with. :)

Yeah, her books can get a bit draggy or wordy in some places, but I'm usually so hooked it doesnt matter by then :P They're definitely for romance readers! :D

Sarah grew up in North Carolina and currently lives in Chapel Hill, NC. She's a big fan of the men's basketball team at UNC.

I'm still trying to read What Happened To Goodbye.

I, personally, don't particularly like it. Too many characters jammed into it, too many sub-plots and quite bland.

I tend to avoid her books. They look a bit....deep to me, and some of the things on the flap of the book don't interest me.

Yeah, they probably do have a more serious aspect that lots of YA books lack... But I don't know. They seem a lot more REAL to me.

I've been meaning to read one of her books but I can't decide which one to read first. She has way too many to sort through and pick. :)

Dramagirl- I thought the same thing but then everyone kept recommending her and so I finally gave in and read Just Listen, which was amazing. I'm now a huge fan of Sarah Dessen- her books are compelling and real and a bit funny at times. Give her a shot if you have the time. :)

My personal favorite is The Truth About Forever. It is my favorite book hands down! Just Listen is lovely as well, but I will always have a soft spot for The Truth About Forever.

I am sorry to hear that you don't like What Happened to Goodbye! I loved that book personally, I loved the idea of someone simply changing their personality as they go, only to be rooted by the very thing she was running from/refused to become attached to; life!

If it is okay with you, I would love to know what made it bland for you! I am just curious, by the way. No malicious intent.

Ive read over 600 novels in the past 12 months, and I hate to say, but none of Sarah's novels made it to my favorites list. I dont know- she's a great writer, obviously, but I just feel as if her plots drag too much in some places, and dont drag along enough in others. I also dont really like any of the main characters, or the plots of her novels.
