Hey people. Yet another music related topic.

Here is where you can talk about lyrics from your favorite songs or even share lyrics that you may have thought up yourself.

Enjoy. :)

Some of my all time favorite lyrics come from Panic! at the Disco. Which is no shocker because it's my favorite band.

This one is from their song Northern Downpour:

If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed,

then we should feed our jewelry to the sea,

for diamonds do appear to be,

just like broken glass to me.

When The Day Met The Night:

When the sun found the moon
She was drinking tea in a garden
Under the green umbrella trees
In the middle of summer

They have such poetic lyrics. Mostly from their first two albums, but they've always been great songwriters no matter what. Their album Pretty.Odd., however, has the most unique lyrics.

^Panic!'s lyrics are the best. Their first two albums, that is. Vices and Virtues, which is still a good album, didn't have nearly as many good lyrics as the others.

Some of my favorite recent lyrics belong to the band Twenty One Pilots. They've got a very unique sound (meaning they're definitely not for everyone, because it's weird). One of the first songs I knew by them was Car Radio, which has some very deep lyrics, a cool sound, and also an awesome video. (I still wish we could've gotten the crowd to do that during the song at their concert. :P)

-Car Radiohttp://www.youtube.c...h?v=92XVwY54h5k

Otherwise, dude, Death Cab. Ben Gibbard is an incredible songwriter and blows my mind frequently. Here are some of my favorites:

Sorrow drips into your heart through a pinhole

Just like a faucet that leaks, and there is comfort in the sound

But while you debate half empty or half full

It slowly rises, your love is gonna drown

-Marching Bands of Manhattanhttp://www.youtube.c...h?v=Se4NBz5N_SA

I'm just going to post the full song for this one, because it beautiful.

And it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes in the ICU that reeked of piss and 409
And I rationed my breaths as I said to myself that I'd already taken too much today
As each descending peak on the LCD took you a little farther away from me

Away from me

Amongst the vending machines and year old magazines in a place where we only say goodbye

It sung like a violent wind that our memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds
And I knew that you were truth I would rather loose than to have never lain beside at all
And I looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the TV entertained itself

Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room, just nervous paces bracing for bad news
And then the nurse comes round and everyone lifts their head
But I'm thinking of what Sarah said, that love is watching someone die

So who's gonna watch you die?

-What Sarah Saidhttp://www.youtube.c...h?v=NQuVudn1-RE

Transatlanticism is one of probably my top five albums. There is so much great material on here. Title and Registration is one of my all-time favorites:

The glove compartment is inaccurately named
And everybody knows it.
So I'm proposing a swift orderly change.

Cause behind its door there's nothing to keep my fingers warm
And all I find are souvenirs from better times
Before the gleam of your taillights fading east
To find yourself a better life.

-Title and Registrationhttp://www.youtube.c...h?v=KGEyqP0744c

I won't post the lyrics to the song Transatlanticism because this is getting so lengthy, but you need to listen to it. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=qNqQC7R_Me4

His head was a city
Of paper buildings
And the echoes that remained
Of old friends and lovers
Their features bleeding
Together in his brain

-Long Divisionhttp://www.youtube.c...h?v=2im12p46pP0

This is, like, my all time favorite Death Cab song. I may or may not have bawled my eyes out during this song at the concert. (Sorry; I feel that I must post all the lyrics because they're some of my favorites. It's such a story.)

When the wind picked up
And the fire spread
And the grapevines seemed left for dead.
And the northern sky, looked like the end of day,
The end of days.

The wake up call to a rented room
Sounded like an alarm of impending doom.
To warn us it's only a matter of time.
Before we all burn

We bought some wine and some paper cups
Near your daughter's school when we picked her up
And drove to a cemetery on a hill,
On a hill.

Watched the plumes paint the sky gray
As she laughed and danced through the field of graves
There I knew it would be alright
That everything would be alright,
Would be alright

And the news reports on the radio
Said it was getting worse
As the ocean air fanned the flames.
But I couldn't think of anywhere I would have rather been
To watch it all burn away,
To burn away.

The firemen worked in double shifts,
With prayers for rain on their lips,
And they knew it was only a matter of time.

-Grapevine Fireshttp://www.youtube.c...h?v=Yu4qQKlyF7s

Well. Okay. That whole post turned into Death Cab lyrics. Oh, well. They deserve it. They're incredible.

Kemosabe - Everything Everything

But does it feel like your already dead ? (Yes!),

And do you feel like your brain stopped delivering?

Yeah break my finger shoot out my black eyes,

What does it matter if everyone dies?

And all those times that you didn't leave it's been occurring to me I'd like to hang out with you for my whole life.

-Stay Stay Stay by Taylor Swift

That kind of embodies my feelings for all you guys.  I'm back, it's been a while, and I'd like to keep hanging out like we used to!

Step - Vampire Weekend

Wisdom's a gift, but you'd trade it for youth
Age is an honor, it's still not the truth
We saw the stars when they hid from the world
You cursed the sun when it stepped to your girl
Maybe she's gone and I can't resurrect her
The truth is she doesn't need me to protect her
We know the true death, the true way of all flesh
Everyone's dying, but girl you're not old yet

To Kingdom Come- Passion Pit

All this talking pulls my teeth

I believed in you, so you believed in

Two for Nero - Everything Everything

And there's no world war coming in, all the reasons I've been worrying

Just forget the parts you'll never need, all these things I'll tell you when you wake up

Armourland- Everything Everything

I wanna take you home
Take off your blindfold
And show you what I am
I wanna take you home
And find some new joy in this autopilot life
I wanna take you home
Slow down your heartbeat
And dry those glazing eyes
I wanna take you home
Blackout our windows
And hold you till we die

Frank Turner is the BEST, guys. If you like folk music and don't know him, look him up. Talented guy.

"If we're stuck on this ship and it's sinking,

then we might as well have a parade."

-"Love Ire & Song," Frank Turner

Finally bought this album ("Love Ire & Song"), and I am in love. So amazing.

Build God, Then We'll Talk—Panic! At the Disco:

It's these substandard motels on the (lalalalala) corner of 4th and Fremont Street.

Appealing only because they are just that un-appealing

Any practiced catholic would cross themselves upon entering.

The rooms have a hint of asbestos and maybe just a dash of formaldehyde,

And the habit of decomposing right before your very (lalalala) eyes.

&

There are no raindrops on roses and girls in white dresses.

It's sleeping with roaches and taking best guesses

At the shade of the sheets and before all the stains

And a few more of your least favorite things.

The music video for this will forever be a spectacle to me, but the song is one of my favorites.

Karma Police—Radiohead:

Karma police, arrest this man

He talks in maths

He buzzes like a fridge

He's like a detuned radio

Karma police, arrest this girl

Her Hitler hairdo is

Making me feel ill

And we have crashed her party

 Schoolin - Everything Everything

And I don't wanna make a scene

I don't wanna think about the 3rd world hunger or whatever

'Cause thinking always comes across

A little...

There's a meeting of the worlds tonight

Right above my head a miracle the sun erupt forever

I barely ever raise my eyes

A little

(Teach him how to hold!)

Nasa is on your side - Everything Everything

There were children climbing over fridges in a rush to see the death of their sun

And we laughed all night when they said "Treasure in the sky" and we had nothing but fun

Choice Mountain - Everything Everything

Wriggling back to the source
And thrashing at the waterfalls for what?
Somewhere there is a place
And I could be the whale that takes it all.

But maybe I'm a lioness
And when I reach the shore I'll
Tear apart hyenas with no thought.

Try this, and try this, and try this again,
I'm never gonna make it.
Delete me,
Repeat me,
Let's try this again.

I'm double posting, but I don't really care, because I need to post some brilliant lyrics.

How Soon Is Now - The Smiths

You shut your mouth

how can you say

I go about things the wrong way

I am human and I need to be loved

just like everybody else does

There's a club if you'd like to go

you could meet somebody who really loves you

so you go, and you stand on your own

and you leave on your own

and you go home, and you cry

and you want to die

When you say it's gonna happen "now"

well, when exactly do you mean?

see I've already waited too long

and all my hope is gone

Vicar In A Tutu - The Smiths

I was minding mind business

Lifting some lead off

The roof of the Holy Name church

It was worthwhile living a laughable life

Just to set my eyes on a blistering sight

Of a vicar in a tutu

He's not strange

He just wants to live his life this way

New Town Velocity - Johnny Marr

Left home a mystery

Leave school for poetry.

I say goodbye to them and me

Mission velocity.

Step up to symphonies,

They play on for you and me.

This whole song is great, but this might be my favorite line:

"I still want to be buried here, just like I said,

but I'd prefer it if you wait until I'm actually dead."
-This Town Ain't Big Enough For the One of Me, Frank Turner

Also going through another FOB phase because I'M GOING TO SEE THEM LIIIIIVE.

"I'm two quarters and a heart down,
and I don't want to forget how your voice sounds.
These words are all I have so I write them;
I need them just to get by."
-Dance, Dance, Fall Out Boy

Let's all take a moment to appreciate the lyrics to "Hard Out Here" by Lily Allen. Not going to post them because someone will probably find them offensive or something, but they're super great, feminist lyrics. Love the song.

Mumford and Sons have the greatest lyrics!

Winter Winds -

As the winter winds litter London with lonely hearts
Oh the warmth in your eyes swept me into your arms
Was it love or fear of the cold that led us through the night?
For every kiss your beauty trumped my doubt

And my head told my heart
"Let love grow"
But my heart told my head
"This time no
This time no"

We'll be washed and buried one day my girl
And the time we were given will be left for the world
The flesh that lived and loved will be eaten by plague
So let the memories be good for those who stay

Oh the shame that sent me off from the God that I once loved
Was the same that sent me into your arms
Oh and pestilence is won when you are lost and I am gone
And no hope, no hope will overcome

And if your strife strikes at your sleep
Remember spring swaps snow for leaves
You'll be happy and wholesome again
When the city clears and sun ascends

White Blank Page

Can you lie next to her
And give her your heart, your heart
As well as your body
And can you lie next to her
And confess your love, your love
As well as your folly
And can you kneel before the king
And say I'm clean, I'm clean

But tell me now, where was my fault
In loving you with my whole heart
Oh, tell me now, where was my fault
In loving you with my whole heart

A white blank page and a swelling rage, rage
You did not think when you sent me to the brink, to the brink
You desired my attention but denied my affections, my affections

So tell me now, where was my fault
In loving you with my whole heart
Oh tell me now, where was my fault
In loving you with my whole heart

Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life
Oh, lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life

Home

I ran away in floods of shame
I’ll never tell how close I came
As I crossed the Holland Road
Well you went left and I went right
As the moon hung proud and bright
You would have loved it here tonight

Spin me ‘round just to pin me down on the cover of this strange bed
Spin me ‘round just to pin me down

Wrap up your questions, keep them down
Let the water lead us home
And I was sorry for what I’d done
When you were young, I was not old
But our story was not told
But torn apart by greedy hands

Spin me ‘round just to pin me down on the cover of this strange bed
Spin me ‘round just to pin me down
Spin me ‘round just to pin me down I’ll be gone by the night’s end
Spin me ‘round just to pin me down

I’ll be home in a little while
Lover, I’ll be home

Jack Johnson - Angel

I've got an angel
She doesn't wear any wings
She wears a heart that could melt my own
She wears a smile that could make me want to sing
She gives me presents
With her presence alone
She gives me everything I could wish for
She gives me kisses on the lips just for coming home

She can make angels
I've seen it with my own eyes
You got to be careful when you you've got good love
'Cause them angels will just keep on multiplying

You're so busy changing the world
Just one smile can change all of mine
We share the same soul

Snow Patrol - You Could Be Happy

You could be happy and I won't know
But you weren't happy the day I watched you go

And all the things that I wished I had not said
Are played in loops 'till it's madness in my head

Is it too late to remind you how we were
But not our last days of silence, screaming, blur

Most of what I remember makes me sure
I should have stopped you from walking out the door

You could be happy, I hope you are
You made me happier than I'd been by far

Somehow everything I own smells of you
And for the tiniest moment it's all not true

Do the things that you always wanted to
Without me there to hold you back, don't think, just do

More than anything I want to see you, girl
Take a glorious bite out of the whole world

Daughtry - "Cinderella"

Dressed in rags
You're scoopin' litter from the cats
I thought we had someone for that
But by the looks of things you fired the maid again

Yeah I confess
I know that floor won't clean itself
And you're worried half to death
About the things that just won't matter in the end

Take off those shoes
Looks like you could really use a glass slipper
Yeah I know it's been a pisser
So one strong sipper might suffice

Come on girl, I'm beggin' please
Get off your knees, I got the keys
And I'll pick you up at midnight
In my souped-up pumpkin ride

'Cause you're my Cinderella
We're two birds of a feather
I'll even sing to you acapella
You're so hella good looking tonight
My Cinderella
Whenever you need some shelter
We can stand under my umbrella
Together
Need no fortune teller to say it's forever with you
Oh, I know it's forever with you

Don't watch the clock,
I paid some dude to make it stop
But we won't worry 'bout tomorrow
There's no sorrow in this fairy tale I wrote

I gotta say
You still take my breath away
That look reminds me of that day
You scratched your number on that yellow post-it note

And now you're my Cinderella
We're two birds of a feather
I'll even sing to you acapella
You're so hella good looking tonight
My Cinderella
Whenever you need some shelter
We can stand under my umbrella
Together
Need no fortune teller to say it's forever with you
Oh, I know it's forever with you

Check out those stars
I picked 'em up one day on Mars
And you thought I was at the bar
Well okay maybe there's a little truth to that

As I was saying'
If you squint a certain way
You'll see they kinda spell your name
Just a little
Okay maybe that's a stretch

But you're my Cinderella
We're two birds of a feather
I'll even sing to you acapella
Forever
Or until you've had enough

Cause you're my Cinderella
And I'm your kind of fella
I wanna kiss you there and tell ya
You're so hella good looking tonight
My Cinderella
Whenever you need some shelter
We can stand under my umbrella
Together
Need no fortune teller to say it's forever with you
Oh, I know it's forever with you

Yeah, and I mean forever with you
Oh, I know it's forever with you

Sometimes you find a song that you so deeply relate to that it hurts (pun definitely not intended, but hey). I found it. This song.

Hurt - Nine Inch Nails [and as great as the lyrics are on their own, you need to hear the song]

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real

The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end

And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of sh/it
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair

Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end

And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I will keep myself
I would find a way

One of my favourite songs is Therapy by All Time Low. It makes me cry every time I hear it. I love the lyrics but they break my heart.

My ship went down
In a sea of sound
When I woke up alone I had everything
A handful of moments I wished I could change
And a tongue like a nightmare that cut like a blade

In a city of fools
I was careful and cool
But they tore me apart like a hurricane
A handful of moments I wished I could change
But I was carried away

Give me therapy
I'm a walking travesty
But I'm smiling at everything
Therapy
You were never a friend to me
And you can keep all your misery

My lungs gave out
As I faced the crowd
I think that keeping this up could be dangerous
I'm flesh and bone
I'm a rolling stone
And the experts say I'm delirious

Give me therapy
I'm a walking travesty
But I'm smiling at everything
Therapy
You were never a friend to me
And you can take back your misery

Arrogant boy
Love yourself so no one has to
They're better off without you
(They're better off without you)

Arrogant boy
Cause a scene like you're supposed to
They'll fall asleep without you
You're lucky if your memory remains

Give me therapy
I'm a walking travesty
But I'm smiling at everything
Therapy
You were never a friend to me
And you can take back your misery

Therapy
I'm a walking travesty
But I'm smiling at everything
Therapy
You were never a friend to me
And you can choke on your misery
